Gazprom to raise amount of NGV filling stations to 471 in 2018

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Feb 15 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom plans to raise the amount of natural gas vehicle (NGV) filling stations to 471 in 2018 from 213 as of January 1, 2016, CEO Alexei Miller said Monday at a meeting for development of the gas-engine car market.

“Our program for investment in construction of new NGV filling stations is massive. Now, after a period of preparation and design, an active stage of construction and launch of new stations has begun; 35 new stations will appear in 21 Russian regions already in 2016…And we will operate 471 NGV filling stations in 2018,” he said.

Sales of compressed natural gas through the stations grew 8% on the year to 433 million cubic meters in 2015, while in 2016 the company expects the sales to rise 11% on the year. Gazprom also eyes sales of compressed natural gas at 1.5 billion cubic meters in 2018.

He also said that more than 3,000 new gas-engine vehicles were sold in Russia in 2015, and 5,000 vehicles more were re-equipped. “It is a good growth. But the park should increase by about 15,000–20,000 vehicles per year for a stable development of the market,” he said.
